Heart camps at Fish Tail Lodge Pokhara

A free heart disease screening camp was organized by PJMT in Pokhara on Aug 2 and 9, 2008 in association with Association of St. Mary's Alumnae Nepal (ASMAN) . Technical and medical support was provided by Dr. Bharat Rawat and his team from NORVIC Hospital, Kathmandu and Dr. Narayan Gautam and his entire team from Padmaha Nursing Home, Pokhara. Over 400 people turned up on Aug 2nd for the camp. ECG & ECHO screening and general check-up was provided free of cost. A follow-up camp was organized on Aug 9th for around 100 people who were diagnosed with heart problems in the Aug 2 camp. Those diagnosed with major problems and requiring surgery will be partially sponsored. A talk program on prevention of heart diseases was also given by Dr. Rawat on Aug 8th.

This camp is a follow up of another camp organized by PJMT in association with Dr. Yamaguchi of Buddha Foundation of Japan, Padmaha Nursing Home, Pokhara and Herelo Pratisthan, Pokhara. A free heart camp was organized at Fish Tail Lodge on 26 Jan 2008. This camp provided free check-ups of the heart for approximately two hundred people. A follow-up camp was organized on 2nd Feb, 2008 and around 150 patients attended. Dr. Bhagawan Koirala and other doctors from Gangalal Heart Center, at the invitation of PJMT, participated free of cost. ECG & ECHO screening and general check-up was provided free of cost and 38 patients who were recommended for surgery were partially sponsored.
 

  • Since conception we have continued the donation of Streptokinase injections at Intensive Care Units and Emergency Rooms in three Kathmandu-based Hospitals, and are looking forward to starting the program at other hospitals outside Kathmandu.
    About 100 Streptokinase injections have been donated so far.

  • PJMT has sponsored a CD production of Reversal Heart Program. This CD kit is a learning tool to teach people how to be aware of the condition of their heart and how to prevent heart diseases by changing their lifestyles and diet.\

  • Based on cooperation between PJMT and Shahid Ganga Lal Heart Centre meaningful information on heart health is now a standard part of the class 6 to 10 curriculums across the country.

  • PJMT has donated 29 heart valves to needy patients via Gangalal Heart Center. These valves were kindly donated to PJMT by Dr. Fred Grover, University of Colorado, USA
