Sponsorship Programme
- The major thrust of the Trust is to provide help to the less fortunate Nepali heart patients. The Trust has supported more than 1100 people across the country.
Continuing Medical education Program ( CME )
- On the 17th of July, a workshop was organized at Hotel Grand, Pokhara. Dr. Grover, Chair and Professor of Colorado University and renowned cardiac surgeon of United States of America was the chief guest in the workshop. He presented a paper on “Developing Technology and Changing Pace of Cardiothoracic Surgery”. In the second session, Dr. Bhagawan Koirala presented a paper on “Present Status of Cardiac Surgery in Nepal”. More than 100 doctors and medical students of Manipal College, Gandaki Medical College, Government Hospital and private hospitals and nursing homes attended the workshop. This was the first time in Pokhara that such a workshop took place. Participants appreciated the efforts made by Jayanti Trust.
- The Trust organized CME Program at Grand Hotel, Pokhara. More than 100 doctors, nurses and media persons attended the program. The program was chaired by Dr. Singha Bd. Basnayat, Vice Chairman of Jayanti Memorial Trust. Two eminent doctors from U.S.A Prof. Dr. Fred. Grover and Dr. Rob Quaife of Colorado University and renowned Nepali Surgeon Prof. Dr. Bhagawan Koirala of Manmohan Cardiothoracic & Transplant center presented three different papers. Prof. Dr. Fred Grover dwelled on “Heart valve surgery”, Dr. Quaife's subject was “Non-invasive diagnosis of valver heart disease” and Prof. Dr. Koirala presented a paper on the “Development of Heart Surgery in Nepal”. More than 100 doctors and medical students of Manipal College, Gandaki Medical College, Government Hospital, private hospitals and nursing homes attended the workshop. Participants appreciated the efforts made by Jayanti Trust. There was also a floor discussion on the above topics. participants benefited by this program and requested the Trust to organize similar program in the coming year.
- The second C.M.E. program was jointly organized by Cardiac Society of Nepal and the Trust on 7th of December 2010 at Hotel Annapurna, Kathmandu. In this program Prof. Dr. Grover highlighted the “Recent Advances in Cardiothoracic Surgery” and Dr. R. Quaife spoke about “C.T. Angiography”. Almost all the eminent cardiologists and surgeons of Kathmandu based hospitals and nursing homes, NGO/INGO’s working in the field of heart health participated the program.
- Jayanti Memorial Trust organized a 3rd C.M.E. Program with the help of Norvic International Hospital and Heart Club Nepal at Hotel Annapurna on 18th Dec 2010. The Chief Guest and Key Note Speaker was Padma Bhusan Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta the Medicity of India. The topic was “Wellness and Preventive Healthcare”.
- On 8th of December a reception program was hosted by Mr. Prabhakar Sumsher J.B. Rana, Chairman of Jayanti Memorial Trust at Hotel Soaltee Crown Plaza, Kathmandu. His Excellency Ambassador Scott H. De Lisi of United States of Americ; Dr. Sudha Sharma, Secretary of Ministry of Health (Nepal ); Dr. Grover and his team; members of the Cardiac society of Nepal, NGO and INGO’s working in the field of heart health; Heart Net members and media persons were present. On this occasion Mrs. Sreejana Rana, Secretary of Jayanti Memorial Trust, highlighted the activities of the Trust.
Free Heart Camp
- Trust organized two free heart camp in Pokhara in 2010. The first camp was organized on July 18th at Padhma Nurshing Home from 9 AM to 4 PM. Dr. Grover and two other doctors of his team and Dr Bhagawan Koirala examined the complex surgery cases. The patients who required urgent surgery were referred to Kathmandu for further investigation. ECG and ECHO services were also made available free of cost by Padhma Nursing Home. The second camp was jointly organized by Jayanti Memorial Trust and ASMAN NEPAL on 14 August in Padhma Nursing Home. Dr. Rawat and his team of Norvic Hospital and Dr. Gautam and his team of Padhma Nursing Home supported the camp with Doctors, Nurses, ECG, ECHO and venue.
- The Trust organized second Free Heart Camp in Pokhara on December 4th, 2010 at Padhma Nursing Home. Dr. Grover, Dr. Quaife and seven other members of his team from the United States and Prof. Dr. Bhagawan Koirala examined the complex surgery cases. A pre-checking and counseling program for the heart patients were also organized by the American experts. More than 400 patients were examined. Out of them some patients who required urgent surgery were referred to Kathmandu for further investigation. ECG and ECHO services were also made available free of cost by Padhma Nursing Home. The camp closed at 30 minutes after midnight.
Go Red for Women
- ASMAN (Association of St. Mary’s Alumnae Nepal) in collaboration with Jayanti Memorial Trust organized a fund raising event “Go Red for Women” to create awareness on risks of heart diseases for women on 13 April 2011 at Hotel De l’Annapurna.
Awareness Program
- On the 13th of August an awareness program was organized by the Trust at Fishtail Lodge, Pokhara. The topic of the talk program was “Let us save our Heart". Dr. Rawat of Norvic International Hospital and Dr. Narayan Gautam of Padhma Nursing Home delivered a riveting talk program. Participants benefited a lot from this presentation. On 16th July, 2011 a joint program was organized by Jayanti Memorial Trust, Norvic Hospital and Heart Club Nepal at Hotel Annapurna, Kathmandu. A renowned cardiologist of Medicity of India, Dr. R. R. Kasliwal spoke on "High Blood Pressure - The Silent Killer". More than 200 hundred people and media persons participated the programe.
Wristband
- In joint collaboration with ASMAN Nepal, JMT has made an attractive wristband with the inscription “From one Heart to Another” on it. The Trust plans to raise 1 million rupees from the sale of these bands, to be used for the treatment of less fortunate Nepali heart patients.
Other activities
- Valve Donation Trust has donated more than 35 valves free of cost to the poor and needy patients. These valves were received from Prof. Dr. Grover of Colorado University of United States of America as charity.
- SKI donationTrust has provided SKI for emergency purpose in different hospitals of Kathmandu.
